Nihaal Faizal

B. 1994,Kochi,Works in Bangalore

Nihaal Faizal is an artist working with the preservation, modification and re-examination of pre-existing materials. Operating like a collector, Faizal gathers objects, images and media that are subsequently archived, duplicated, altered or redistributed. Through these processes, Faizal transforms such material into new documents and artworks, complicating ideas around authorship, official record and cultural memory.

Alongside his studio practice, Faizal also runs Reliable Copy — a publishing house and curatorial platform for projects and writing by other artists. His work is shaped by the interplay of these dual practices, with the shared sensibilities of publishing and artistic production operating as mutually reinforcing modes of inquiry.

Faizal has held solo exhibitions at TACIT, New York (2026); C.A.V.E., New York, 2026; 44 Great Russell St, London (2025); 8-0-0, Bangalore, 2025; Bill’s PC, Perth (2024 and 2023); and Chatterjee & Lal, Mumbai (2023). In 2018, he founded Reliable Copy and between 2013–2016, he organised the project space G.159 in Bangalore.
