At the age of 16, Myriam Boulos started using her camera to get closer to reality. Today she uses photography to explore, defy and resist society. Across her work, Boulos consistently transforms a deeply personal exploration into politically resonant visual narratives, while also reshaping our understanding of photojournalism itself. Her photography gives visibility to those living outside dominant norms, capturing moments of connection and tenderness within a society that often seeks to silence them.
Boulos holds a master’s degree in photography from the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts, Beirut (2015). Her work has been exhibited at the International Center of Photography, New York; Huis Marseille, Amsterdam; and the l’Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris. Her work has been published in Aperture, FOAM, Time, GQ Middle East, Vogue Arabia, and Vanity Fair France, among other publications. Boulos was awarded the Eugene Smith Fellowship, PHmuseum Women Photographers Grant, Grand prix ISEM, and the 19th Foam Paul Huf Award. In 2021 she joined Magnum as a nominee. In 2023 her book, What’s Ours, was published by Aperture.
