Lin Zhipeng (aka No.223) is a photographer and writer who captures the need to love in an otherwise indifferent society. 223’s photographs reflect the zeitgeist of the post-80s and 90s generation of non-mainstream Chinese youth. Amidst an often-closed traditional culture, his photographs act as a collective not-so-private diary of a young generation pushing against the limits of the rigid social rules of conservative Chinese society.

223 graduated from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, majoring in finance and English. He has held solo exhibitions at Delaware Contemporary Museum (2019); and The Walther Collection, Neu Ulm (2019). 223 has also exhibited at Three Shadows Photography Art Center, Beijing (2018); Xi’an Art Museum (2017); GuatePhoto International Photography Festival, Antigua (2015); 10th Lianzhou International Photography Festival (2014); Shanghai Gallery of Art (2012); and FotoGrafia International Festival, Rome (2008).
