Abdulhamid Kircher is a distinctive new voice in photography. His practice moves effortlessly across photographic modes to construct narratives that are at once emotionally candid, autobiographically charged and quietly unflinching. Through an associative visual logic anchored in his transnational family history, Kircher explores how different relational bonds emerge within distinct social and familial environments and how these, in turn, shape understandings of people and place.
Kircher received a BA in Culture and Media from The New School, New York in 2018 and an MFA in Visual Arts from University of California San Diego in 2022. His first monograph Rotting from Within was published by Loose Joints in 2024. The series is currently presented at Deichtorhallen Hamburg as part of the 9th Triennale der Photographie. In 2025, Kircher received the Grand Prix Images Vevey Award, leading to a presentation at the 10th edition of Biennale Images Vevey of his new series, To Be Held By The Earth, in September 2026. In 2026, Kircher was awarded the Hamburger Bahnhof Studio Award and released his second monograph, New Genesis, published by Loose Joints.
